Malcolm Rennie left Lochlea Distillery in Ayrshire for rebuilding Rosebank Distillery in Falkirk. In February 2022 he started his new responsibility at the rebuild Rosebank Distillery in Falkirk. Ian Macleod Distillers - Glengoyne, Tamdhu - had appointed the highly experienced distiller in October 2021.
The Islay bred Rennie developed the production process at the newly built Lochlea Farm Distillery from June 2017 until November 2021.
Interesting: Lochlea was the farm where the Scottish poet Robert Burns helped his father William as farmer from 1777 to 1784.
From 2010 until November 2015 Malcolm was Distillery Manager at the recreated Lowland Distillery Annandale. He came from the Islay Farm Distillery Kilchoman in 2010. For more than five years he shaped the character of the peaty distillate at Rockside Farm. The former longtime manager of Bunnabhain, John MacLellan, followed him.
Malcolm's short experience as assistant manager at Glen Moray Distillery in 2003 helped him to run Kilchoman as manager. However, his distilling competence as production operator was largely shaped at Ardbeg distillery (1997 - 2003).
Originally, the Ileach started his distilling career at the Bruichladdich Distillery in 1987. Unfortunately he had to move on from the iconic distillery when it was mothballed in Spring 1995.
